Bills Interest in Crumpler?

Friday, the Atlanta Falcons cut 30 year old Pro Bowl TE Alge Crumpler. With the Bills seeking an upgrade at the position, could they have an interest in signing the four-time Pro Bowler?
That probably depends on what they think about the talent in the draft, and whether its better than what Crumpler can give them now. Crumpler is coming off a knee injury that limited his playing time and catches in 2006. His numbers have been on a decline in the last few years. But unlike a rookie, he can produce immmediately. Are they looking to replace Robert Royal, the current starter, or supplement him with a rookie who will split time? Is someone like USC's Fred Davis (the top-ranked rookie tight end) give the team more of what its looking for, which is a downfield threat at the position? That's probably not Crumpler. There are no early indications that the Bills are interested. But maybe once they check out the talent at the combine, they may change their mind. Crumpler might not still be available much longer so that decision will have to made quickly.
**Alge Crumpler's father, Carlester, was drafted by the Bills in 1974.

I say Alge would give the bills a great shot at a playoff position.

he looks to have a lot of experience, and i think he could be a great addition to the team. the bills need veterans like him that know how to play the game and can prove it by their track record. if they can find a player that will lead this team and bring out the best in every player, they will find some great results. i feel like i'm repeating myself in every comment, but the bills can do it. what i mean is making the playoffs, and going to the super bowl. they can compete. they can play. it just doesnt show every game. thats the difference between a good team and a great team.

What else but weather...are you kidding? You mean the fact that John Murphy has taken over as Sports Diretor for Channel 4 isn't the biggest sports news in WNY right now? Come on dude...it ain't all about weather man. That blog is great...lot's of participation...this one is really weak. Perhaps this news could spice it up!

Hey Paul Peck...come on dude...comment. Everybody knows it is true! But, we'd love to hear your take on it. We know you are going to the combines w/ him. What is the scoop? If you want this blog to work, it will take some dialog like this. I mean, come on...how much can we talk about the Bills right now, and although we all love the Sabres, we all know they ain't going too far this year. Face it...Dennis loosing his job to Murph is the biggest thing going on in WNY right now!!! Speak up guys...your silence is deafening!

It will be good to see Murph back on the air waves...is it really true? Hey Spencer what makes you think the Sabres wont go far...i think they are peeking at the right time and should go far in the play-offs this year.

Well Dan...I think that you are wrong. They may be peaking right now...but their peak is more like an ant hill rather than are real mountain. They have been very disappointing and IF they make the playoffs, I bet you won't be in Lyndonville watching too many games! But, you are right about having Murph back on the air! Thanks for blogging on the sports blog...now, where is Paul Peck?
